In a few days, we will be rolling out a Kickstarter fundraising campaign. We see using http://www.kickstarter.com as an imperfect but useful way to spread the word about what we are doing and attract donors. In the meantime, we are happy to respond to individual questions. Our mission is to create two-dimensional, three-dimensional, and four-dimensional spaces where artists and audiences can connect and converse in ways that are intimate and minimally intimidating. We hope to foster recognition of commonalities connecting artists and audiences, and bolster our own and others’ trust in receptive and aesthetic instincts. Just as you don’t need to go to finishing school to enjoy rocking out on the dance floor, you needn’t learn a specialist vocabulary or buy an MFA to speak your mind boldly about art and art practices.
In 2011, The Blue Letter and its friends are eager to contribute creatively on a number of fronts, including but not limited to: chapbook and full-length publications, a monthly reading series at Watty & Meg, “Popstars Are Poets Too!” talks, community writing workshops, individual tutoring, show curation, and dialogues between contemporary poets and artists.
Donations are welcome in the form of money, trade, volunteer work (selective internship positions are available ), in-kind fulfillment, collaborations, and other enterprises.
If you would like to contribute to The Blue Letter, contact Chris Hosea at 917-742-9278. Our mailing address is 473 Henry Street #3, Brooklyn, NY 11231. Checks should be made out to “Cecily Iddings and Chris Hosea.”
